Prevent C. diff Protect Patients

Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) can cause serious harm and have a lasting effect on people’s lives. The actions we take every day make a difference to patients.

Prevent C. diff is a staff‑facing campaign with real patient and family experiences to remind us of the importance of infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship, and to support consistent behaviours that help keep patients safe.

Please note: campaign materials are intended for staff areas and staff communications only.

Patient stories

These short films share the lived experience of people affected by C. diff. They are designed for use in team meetings, training, huddles and reflective discussion, as well as individual viewing.

Campaign resources

All materials are available in Welsh and English.

Using the materials locally

Teams within health boards and trusts play a key role in local delivery of the campaign.

Materials are designed to be:

  • Used flexibly in meetings, teaching and refresher activity
  • Displayed in staff‑facing areas

Please use the materials that fit best with your local priorities and ways of working.
