Why do we use data and how you can see it?
Here at NHS Wales Performance and Improvement (NHSPI) we use data all the time from all parts of the NHS in Wales. Some is our data, and some of it is data from other sources supplied by our key partners, for example Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) and Welsh Government (WG).
All this information helps us have better conversations with health boards and trusts, as well as our wider stakeholders in healthcare in Wales.
We use it to look at performance, understand how services can be improved and always ensure it is being used to make sure everyone is doing the best they can for patients, for Wales, and for NHS Wales staff.
As part of our commitment to transparency, we want to share what we do, how we do it and how we are trying to improve.
In being open and honest, we want to make sure you can see the data we can see. Some of the data we source from elsewhere within NHS Wales is already published and available.
On this page, we will provide links to two of our own dashboards, Enabling Actions dashboard and the Six goals programme dashboard. Click on the boxes at the bottom of this page to access these two dashboards.
It’s important for us to say all this data is indicative operational information collected from many sources. We want to show you the kinds of data we use, but as it is unvalidated (not confirmed), it may not reflect the true provision of services. That may mean the overall trends are more useful than the specific figures. This allows us to spot patterns, strengths and gaps, and have better conversations about how to improve services.
