A new name was one of the recommendations from the recent Ministerial Advisory Group (MAG) on performance and productivity in the NHS in Wales. Welsh Government accepted the recommendation and proposed the new name of NHS Wales Performance and Improvement.
On Monday 2 June, Performance and Improvement staff attended a virtual engagement event where the new identity was unveiled by our Senior Leadership team.
The team also heard video messages from Jeremy Miles MS, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care and Judith Paget CBE, Director General of Health and Social Services Welsh Government / Chief Executive NHS Wales.
In his video message, Jeremy Miles MS said: “Over the coming months there will be further changes as work is undertaken to refocus NHS Wales Performance and Improvement around its unique dual role, providing support to the NHS to deliver better services to the public and supporting the Welsh Government to hold the NHS to account.”
“NHS Wales Performance and Improvement will build on the strong foundations that have already been put in place by the NHS Wales Executive.”
“I expect quality, safety and better patient outcomes to continue to be a strong focus, and this will be central to the work that is underway.
“The role of NHS Wales Performance and Improvement will be crucially important to our ability to drive better performance across the NHS in Wales and deliver better services for the people of Wales.”
