The assessment will look at how maternity and neonatal services in NHS Wales are working in 2025, focusing on the key stages of care: before birth (antenatal), during birth (intra-partum), after birth (post-partum), newborn care (including any care provided by neonatal services), and support in the community.
Using an experience approach, the assessment will explore what is working well and what could be improved. Importantly this will be guided by feedback from women, parents and families and from maternity and neonatal staff in NHS Wales.
