Sam Perera, Network Manager for the National Strategic Clinical Network for Women’s Health, said: “Menstrual health is one of the eight priority areas in the NHS Wales Women's Health Plan, and the Bloody Brilliant website plays an important role in empowering young people, giving them the confidence to understand their bodies and talk openly about menstrual health. The website is a key part of how we support this priority area in practice. By bringing together reliable information, practical tools and now the new locator, the site helps make support more visible and accessible. We want women and girls across Wales to feel informed, supported and empowered to access the help they need in their everyday lives.”
The updated site also brings a fresh new look and improved user experience, with resources to support menstrual health and tackle period stigma. New interactive features include a ‘How much do you know about periods?’ quiz, designed to build knowledge and spark conversations about periods in a fun and engaging way.
The improvements reflect a continued commitment to making menstrual health information practical, accessible and easy to navigate for everyone in Wales. Earlier this month, the National Strategic Clinical Network for Women’s Health also co-developed learning materials for young people aged 11-16, to support awareness, understanding and conversations on menstrual health and wider women’s health. Created collaboratively with young people and school nurses, the resources are designed to be shared with school staff to help encourage conversations in education settings, while also being available online for young people to explore independently. They link to the Bloody Brilliant site and cover topics such as menstrual health, endometriosis, pelvic health and menopause.
