The shortlist for the NHS Wales Awards 2025 has been revealed, showcasing some inspiring NHS success stories from across Wales. With over 200 high-quality entries, judging was a huge challenge for our expert panels.
36 projects have been selected, highlighting a range of NHS success stories from teams that are driving improvements in quality and safety and transforming the experiences and outcomes for people in Wales. Projects have been submitted across a range of categories aligned with the Duty of Quality and the Health and Care Quality Standards 2023.
In a time of ongoing challenges across the health and care system, these projects are a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through quality improvement approaches. They demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering better health and care outcomes that really make a difference to the people of Wales.
Dominique Bird, Acting National Director of Quality, Safety and Improvement said:
“We’re incredibly proud to have received over 200 submissions for the NHS Wales Awards this year, demonstrating the huge breadth of innovative improvement work taking place across NHS Wales. These projects represent the very best of innovation and collaboration. Congratulations to all the finalists and best of luck at the awards later this year.”
The next stage will see our judging panels meet with the finalists to explore their projects in more depth and understand first hand, the benefits they've brought to patients and services. Each panel includes experts from NHS Wales, the wider public sector, and professional bodies.
A new-look celebration event is also being developed to showcase the achievements of the shortlisted teams and their projects. It will offer a space for shared learning, inspiration for spreading improvements and recognition of the NHS success stories shaping health and care in Wales. More details will be shared soon.
